Pest Control FAQs
SHOULD I TACKLE PEST PROBLEM ON MY OWN OR HIRE A PRO?
When it comes to getting rid of pests, there’s tons of do-it-yourself tips floating around the internet. But if we’re being real, most of those homemade remedies don’t actually work long-term. To truly kick the critters to the curb and keep them from coming back, your best bet is to enlist the help of professionals. Pest control experts know how to properly identify bugs, and they have the know-how to choose solutions that will prevent future infiltrations. For the best results, you need to hire a legitimate licensed exterminator.
HOW IS OUR SERVICE DIFFERENT?
Precision Pest Control services go above and beyond with professional, personalized solutions. We use detailed inspection methods to identify existing and potential pest problems on your property. Our team then develops the most effective treatment based on the findings. In comparison, competitor companies may use generic treatments in commercial settings that may not target the exact source of an issue.
WHAT IS INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT (IPM)?
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) takes a “whole picture” approach of dealing with pests that brings together different strategies to get them under control. It looks at things like how the pests behave, what their life cycle is, and what’s going on around environment-wise to come up with a tailored plan specific to the situation.
The first focus of IPM is prevention – keeping the pests out in the first place through good sanitation and maintenance practices, putting up physical barriers and traps and more. If that doesn’t get the job done, then targeted use of pesticides might be needed, but the goal is to minimize any negative impacts on other organisms or the environment.
By using different techniques like this all together, IPM can tackle pest problems better over the long run compared to old-school pest control methods that rely too much on chemicals. The mix of tactics just makes more sense for the health of the whole system.
WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY FOR CONDUCTING PEST CONTROL TREATMENTS?
Pest control’s something you got to stay on top of if you want to keep the critters out. We’d say every three months is a good rule of thumb for calling the exterminator back. However, it really depends on a bunch of things – how bad the bugs are at your place, what part of the country you’re in, whether you live in an apartment or a house etc. The pros will be able to tell you what’s best for your situation after scoping things out. Bugs are sneaky and they multiply fast, so waiting too long between treatments gives them a chance to get out of hand. Staying on a regular schedule, even if it’s just having the pros walk through and do an inspection goes a long way towards nipping issues in the bud.
IS IT COMMON FOR THE PEST CONTROL SERVICE WE CURRENTLY USE TO KEEP SPRAYING, YET THE PROBLEM PERSISTS?
It’s pretty normal for extermination companies to keep on fumigating in order to fully wipe out a pest problem. Bugs can be stubborn and often need more than one treatment before they’re completely gone. If the exterminator doesn’t figure out the source of the problem, there could still be an issue even with repeated sprayings. Good exterminators rely a lot on their expertise, years of experience, and investigation skills to figure out what’s causing the infestation. Once they spot what in the environment needs addressing, then the treatments can start. And most times, just that first treatment plan does the trick.

CAN YOU RECOMMEND PRODUCTS TO MANAGE UNPLEASANT MOUSE ODORS OR THE SMELL OF DECAYING ANIMALS EFFECTIVELY?
Smells can be powerful things. They can make you suddenly ravenous. Bad smells aren’t just unpleasant but make you worry if dangerous germs or parasites could be swarming in as well. Our odor removal treatments don’t just mask foul stenches. We eliminate them by destroying bacteria, fungus, and the source of the smell too. So you can breathe easy knowing our treatments eradicate threats while leaving a light, clean scent behind.
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD WE STAY AWAY FROM OUR HOME AFTER A CHEMICAL SPRAY TREATMENT?
When it comes to pest control that uses chemicals and spraying, you have to be careful about letting people back into the area too soon. We would say give it a good 3 or 4 hours at least before going back inside, especially if we just did a bed bug treatment. We really suggest waiting the full 4 hours if they got bed bugs! And make sure to open up them windows when you do head back in so everything can air out nice. Basically just use some extra caution for a few hours. Safety first!
WHAT FACTORS SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A PEST CONTROL SERVICE?
When you’re looking to hire a pest control company, you will need to find one that hits the big must-haves: professional service, good communication, fair prices and proven results. Basically, they must tick all the boxes that matter to you as a customer.
A good provider should clearly explain their plan of attack against those pesky critters invading your home. They also give you tips on what you can do on your own to help tackle the problem.

Getting service done the same day you call is usually not a problem. But if spraying needs to happen inside a unit, we’ll have to plan the work when you are able to vacate. Our exterminators can show up within 24 hours of your call. Maybe even quicker if our crews are available when you need help.

IS THE TREATMENT GOING TO CAUSE DISCOMFORT TO MY PETS?
When we come to treat your home, we’ll let you know what to do with your pets so they’re safe while we work. Usually, the labels say we should keep the pets out of the areas we treated for a couple hours, just to be extra careful and some treatments don’t require that though. We want what’s best for your pets too!
IS IT NECESSARY FOR ME TO ADHERE TO A SPECIFIC PROGRAM, OR CAN A SINGLE SERVICE EFFECTIVELY ADDRESS OUR ISSUE?
We offer both one-time services as well as ongoing maintenance programs. Ultimately, it’s your property, so we can only make recommendations based on our experience, inspections and understanding of your needs about what might work best. People with maintenance programs seem to really appreciate both the service results and our customer service when issues pop up.
IS PREPARATION REQUIRED FOR THE SERVICE, AND DOES IT INVOLVE A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF EFFORT?
Getting ready for a pest control service can vary a lot depending on what kind of critters you’re dealing with. For pests like ants or spiders, you usually don’t have to do much besides letting the exterminator come inside your house. But if you’ve got a full-on infestation of bed bugs or fleas, there’s likely more stuff you’ll need to put in order so the treatment works well. Our technicians should give you a checklist of anything you need to wash, bag up, and move around ahead of time. Either way, the pros will guide you on getting your place ready for treatment.
COULD THE TREATMENT POTENTIALLY AGGRAVATE MY ASTHMA SYMPTOMS?
If you or anyone living with you has any medical issue going on, totally give us a heads up. We get it – bugs, chemicals and asthma don’t mix well! But no worries, we’ve got loads of options that’ll kick those pests to the curb without stirring up your breathing. Just let your technician know what’s up and we’ll come up with a plan.
